Arthritis is a chronic condition that causes pain in the joints. The most common form is osteoarthritis, which occurs when the cartilage on the ends of bones wears down.
Why care about arthritis now?
- It's never too early to start taking care of your bones and joints. We want to be here for a good time and a long time.
- Constantly doing notetaking, homework, and of course, using our phones discourages good posture.
- Arthritis and pain of the neck and back are the most common health conditions for older people. It has been found that many adults leave the workforce early because of chronic pains.
Things to Remember
- Good Stuff
- Jogging and running helps prevent arthritis of the knees.
- Yoga, pilates, basically any type of stretching can help relieve joint pain.
- Try to stay hydrated! It helps soothe the bones' cartilage.
- Bad Stuff
- Be conscious of when you are slouching or leaning forward too much.
- Remember to swing your arms when walking aka don't hunch over your phone while you are walking somewhere.
- Even stress hurts your posture (but avoiding stress is a topic for another time).
